Pete Garrard

I’m a ceramic sculptor and watercolour artist.

I fell in love with clay when I was 12, studied it at university and have continually used it since; alongside this I taught ceramics in schools and FE and now from my studio in Longlevens. I have always been interested in intense colour and mark-making and I started to explore this in watercolours and I’m now beginning to translate this knowledge to my clay work. My inspiration has been wide ranging; over the years architecture, history, the natural world and the human figure have all been influential. More recently I have focussed entirely on the human figure, particularly the male, with all its vulnerabilities, frailty and joy.
